Guide to the 2026 Rules 🛴
Getting around Rimini in summer is a unique experience — beach days, parties, aperitifs, and a real sense of freedom.
Among the most practical and fun ways to move along the Riviera are electric scooters, now available everywhere through sharing apps.
Before hopping on, it’s important to know the new 2026 rules introduced by Law No. 177/2024 — designed to make electric scooter use safer and more regulated across Ital Gesetz n. 177/2024 and updated to make riding safer for everyone.
The Basic Rules for 2026
👶 Minimum Age
To ride an electric scooter, you must be at least 14 years old.
Anyone caught underage risks a fine between €100 and €400.
🪖 Helmet Required
Wearing a helmet is mandatory for everyone, regardless of age.
You can use a bike helmet, as long as it meets European safety standards UNI EN 1078 or UNI EN 1080.
Without a helmet, you risk a fine between €100 and €400.
🛡️ Insurance and License Plate
Every electric scooter must have liability insurance and an identification plate.
If you rent via an app, insurance is usually already included in the price.
💡 Mandatory Equipment
All scooters must be equipped with:
- front and rear lights
- turn indicators
- brakes on both wheels
- a bell
⚡ Allowed Speed
- 20 km/h on the road
- 6 km/h in pedestrian areas
Those who exceed the limit may face a fine between €50 and €200.
🦺 Reflective Vest
After sunset or in low-visibility conditions (rain, fog, darkness), it’s mandatory to wear a reflective vest or straps.
Failing to do so can result in a fine between €50 and €200.
Have Fun Safely
✅ What to Do
- Always wear a helmet. Safety comes first.
- Park only in designated areas. Let’s keep Rimini tidy and welcoming together.
- Respect the speed limits. You’re on holiday, not in a race 😉
- Wear a reflective vest when needed: it helps you stay visible even at night.
🚫 What to Avoid
- No passengers or heavy luggage. The scooter is for one person only. Fine from €50 to €250.
- Don’t modify the vehicle. Only safety accessories or phone holders are allowed. Fine up to €800.
- Don’t park anywhere. Narrow sidewalks are not the right place!
- Avoid reckless rides. Zigzagging or creating danger can lead to fines up to €400, and in more serious cases up to €800.
Sharing in Rimini: how it works
Sharing companies already include insurance and maintenance in the rental cost.
Just download the app, register, and follow the basic rules: helmet, correct parking, and respect for speed limits.
A small gesture for your safety — and to help keep Rimini more enjoyable for everyone.
In conclusion
Whether you’re heading to an aperitif, the beach, or a nightclub, the electric scooter is the fastest and most sustainable way to enjoy the Riviera.
Follow the rules, ride safely, and experience the city with total freedom.
